Alexa D’Onofrio is currently the Varsity softball coach at Pat-Medford. Prior to Pat-Medford, Coach D’Onofrio spent 1 year as JV softball coach at Half Hollow Hills H.S., two previous years coaching Varsity softball for West Islip H.S. While at West Islip, the Lions qualified for the county playoffs both seasons, finishing in the top 8 in 2017 and the top 4 in 2018. Nine out of the eleven seniors D’Onofrio coached went on to play at the collegiate level.
D’Onofrio began her coaching career at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA. She was the assistant coach at ENC from 2014 to 2016. While at ENC, she worked mainly with the pitchers and outfielders. Her Responsibilities included planning,
(practices, lineups, game plans, fundraising, travel itineraries etc), recruiting, evaluating, running social media, and monitoring classroom performance. D’Onofrio is a 2014 graduate of Minnesota State University where she was a five-year member and pitcher on the softball team, competing in the NCAA Division 2 Northern Sun conference.
Coach D’Onofrio grew up on Long Island, played for LI Express 18U (Anthem- East team), and graduated from Patchogue-Medford H.S. in 2009. D’Onofrio currently holds the records at Pat-Med for strikeouts in a season, strikeouts in a game, and most shutouts and no hitters in a season.
